Typically, firefighters work a 24 hour shift which means that they have to prepare
their own meals. Usually, one member of the fire company becomes the station
cook, a respected and beloved position. Firefighters love to eat; in general they have become "experts" at determining
what good food is. Like the Firehouse Subs ad says, "Firefighters know good food!" I have eaten some of my best food in a firehouse (I wouldn't tell my wife that
though!). Our attempt to make this web site a resource for firefighters as well as
the public has led me to include some proven firehouse recipes that are sure to
please the toughest firefighter food critic. It is my hope that many firefighters
